Turns out... you can't outrun the weather.

We've tried.

From sideways rain in the Highlands to surprise hailstorms in July, we've learnt one thing over 20 years of putting on endurance events... eventually, you're going to need to rely on your waterproof.

So we made one that earns its place in your pack.

Light enough to forget it's there, tough enough to deal with the sort of weather that has sheep looking miserable. Built from lightweight 20k/20k waterproof and breathable fabric, it'll keep the rain on the outside while letting the sweat escape on the inside. (No promises if you've just charged up a mountain.)

When the sun makes a guest appearance, stuff it into its own pocket and chuck it back in your pack. Job done.

The fully taped seams tick off mandatory kit requirements for endurance events and adventures, while the peaked hood adjusts with one hand. Ideal when you're clinging onto a trekking pole, juggling a flapjack or simply refusing to stop.

Thumb loops help keep chilly hands covered, elasticated cuffs stop the weather sneaking in, and the athletic fit means it won't flap around like a tent in a gale.

Finished in charcoal grey with black detailing because, let's face it, mud goes with everything.

The good stuff

  • 20,000mm waterproof protection
  • 20,000g breathable fabric

  • Packs into its own pocket
  • Fully taped seams

Designed by event organisers. Tested by thousands of #RatRacers. Approved by people who think "this'll be character building" is a sensible life choice.

Haven't worn is the wet yet but fits well, seems well made and is true to size. I'm 5'8, average build and got the small.

Delighted - true fit and looks great. The Waterproof rating helps with lots of Ultra event mandatory kit stipulations.

Super lightweight and breathable. Meets the exact requirements for the wall and the framed peak on the hood is going to prevent water runoff. Great service and super fast delivery.

Rain-tested and runner-approved (Mk2 just needs one fix)

After weeks of bone-dry weather that left me wondering if it would ever rain again, a proper downpour finally arrived to save my dignity and spare me the embarrassment of standing fully clothed in my own shower just to test the Jacket. After a solid two hours of running through a full spectrum of weather - from a miserable mizzle to a torrential deluge - I can safely say it holds up brilliantly to the kind of conditions that make sheep look miserable.

Being 6'2", I opted to size up to a Large instead of my usual Medium. This gave me that crucial extra length in the arms and back, while leaving plenty of room for winter layering on more exposed runs. The adjustable peaked hood is excellent too; it is roomy enough to swallow both a running cap and my bone-conduction headphones of choice.

On the move, the jacket handles beautifully. It is incredibly lightweight, quiet, and packs down to nothing when you need to stuff it into its own pocket. Water beaded away perfectly until the final 10 minutes of the run when the heavens truly bounced down. While it did trap a fair bit of the internal moisture I generated myself (as you'd expect charging through heavy weather), it acted as a brilliant shield against the wind, keeping me perfectly warm throughout.

My only real critique lies with the pockets. While the zips themselves are waterproof, the very tops are left exposed when closed, allowing a bit of water to sneak in. A Mk2 version definitely needs zipper garages to cover that gap. Luckily, any water that did get inside didn't stay trapped, thanks to the internal drain holes that let it out near the bottom hem.

It gets a very solid 4/5 from me. With the zips being the only identified area to improve, it's a stellar bit of kit! You’ll just have to find another excuse not to run when the weather turns with one of these on.
